National Archives & Spaarnestad Photo join Wikipedia!

06 September 2010 On 13 September 2010 the Nationaal Archief and Spaarnestad Photo will donate more than 1,000 photos to Wikimedia Netherlands, part of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is the largest online encyclopaedia in the world and is, moreover, entirely written and maintained by users. There is a substantial demand for images to illustrate the encyclopaedia entries, but in many cases the photographic material is not available legally.

National Archive participates in fotografen.nl

28 January 2010 At the beginning of January the website fotografen.nl was launched. The website was built on the artist database RKD-Artists and should develop into the most extensive database for photographers of the Netherlands.

Copyright arrangements

Images for the Future wants to sufficiently collect and record intellectual property rights information, so that a lack in copyright information does not become an obstruction in disclosing and exploiting the material. The project aims to clear as much content as possible, by closing window agreements with copyright holders or their representatives. Content that has spent years collecting dust will again be released into the market. For copyrights this means the project has to think deeply about (...)

The National Archive and Spaarnestad Photo release new photos on The Commons on Flickr

It has been a busy week here at the National Archive. On the 18th of December the National Archive and Spaarnestad Photo launched new photographs on The Commons on Flickr. This time the photographs related to various subjects. Firstly, as part of the National Archive’s Afscheid van Indië project (www.afscheidvanIndië.nl), The National Archive published some photographs of the Dutch East Indies on Flickr.
